Mental Health and Wellbeing

At Thrive, we believe that people thrive when they feel safe, valued, connected and able to be themselves.

Mental health and wellbeing are fundamental to learning, development and healthy relationships. Children and young people can only engage in learning when they feel emotionally and psychologically safe, and staff can best support others when they feel supported themselves.

Our vision is to create mentally and emotionally healthy school communities where wellbeing is not an add-on, but an integral part of everyday school life. We are committed to building cultures that are compassionate, relational, trauma-informed and rooted in belonging. For us, belonging means more than simply being present. It means feeling accepted, valued and connected; knowing that you matter, that your voice is heard, and that you can show up as your authentic self.

Our work goes beyond responding to difficulties when they arise. We are focused on creating the conditions that help children, young people, staff and families to thrive; through strong relationships, supportive environments, evidence-informed practice and a shared commitment to wellbeing.

Across our schools, we are developing a whole-community approach to mental health and wellbeing. This includes training, professional development, reflective spaces, collaboration between schools, and targeted support where it is needed. We continue to learn from research, listen to the voices of our communities, and work alongside trusted partners and specialists to strengthen and evolve our approach.

Mental health and wellbeing are everyone's business. Together, we are creating school communities where people feel supported, connected and empowered to flourish. Where everyone has a genuine sense of belonging, and can show up as the best version of themselves.
